About Second Life
For those unfamiliar with the virtual world, Second Life can best be described as an attempt to be a three-dimensional representation of the internet. Rather than a picture, your avatar is represented by a 3D model that can take on a variety of forms, and the internet is represented by the three-dimensional world that your avatar can traverse. If the world, itself, is the internet, then the individual plots of land that your avatar can visit represents the many web sites you can encounter. And as with the internet, your experience on Second Life will vary, depending on what you're goal is at any given time. For example, if you're goal is to socialize and weave a network of contacts, your experience with Second Life will lead you to think of it as more of a 3D chat platform, than anything else. However, if you have a creative streak, your experience with Second Life will lead you to think of it as a tool for self-expression in a manner of ways. In other words, as with your First Life, your Second Life is whatever you make of it!
